View the Future -- A Vision for the Future

People come to Yachats for many reasons. They like the quaint village atmosphere. They remember coming here as kids, staying at Grandma and Grandpa's little cabin, swimming in the Yachats River , going fishing. They hope their own children, their grandchildren, and many future generations will continue to love this place. They come to get married and they spend their honeymoon in a cozy cabin by the ocean, and they come back on their anniversary. They drive through town on their way to somewhere else and they fall in love with the charm of a place tucked in between the wooded hillsides and the crashing surf. They come to renew themselves, to walk the beaches, explore the forests, meet the friendly people who live here.

In December 2005, we celebrated the dedication of a conservation easement of 16+ acres of forested headland owned by Joanne and Norman Kittel.

The photos on the left show the lush woods and spectacular ocean views which will be protected by the easement. This serene and lovely area is accessible to the public via the Amanda Trail, shown in the photos. The Trail easement is under the state Parks & Recreation Department and connects to the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area to the south. The Kittels are shown in the last two photos at the dedication ceremony.
